"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
Mohandas Ghandi said that, and I, animal-lover to the core, believe it whole-heartedly. I do, after all, have four dogs, and I truly believe my life is better for having them in it. Except when they poop in areas not designated as pooping areas. Like, in my closet for example. Ugh.

If I could, I would have goats, horses, a chicken or two and maybe a peacock to round it all out. Cats--well, they need love too and I have owned many in my lifetime, but I could probably go the rest of my life and not own another one. But, I find them exquisite to watch.
Now, in some cases, makes me a hypocrite because despite my aforementioned affinity for creatures of the four-legged variety, I am NOT a vegetarian. Barbecued chicken or steaks on the grill are way too good for me to pass up, and I NEVER met a burger I didn't like. However, I have been known to start fights with strangers at the dog park because of what I believed to be unnecessarily harsh treatment of their dogs, and I also think the punishments for animal cruelty should be higher than what they are currently. By a lot. Don't even get me started on Michael Vick. I lock my dogs in a safe place the second #7 jumps onscreen. Eww.
There are many people in the world who the feel the way I do about animals; that is, that they have feelings, emotions, and intellect far beyond whatever we give them credit for having. What is your opnion and why do you feel that way?
.Do you have a pet?
What kind? What is his/her name?
How did you choose that name?
Do you believe that you can communicate with your pet or with animals in general?
Can they communicate with you? How do you know?
What is your take on the activists that spend hours campaigning for the rights of animals? Are they wasting their time frivolously when they could be helping human beings out there in the world?
Do animals even HAVE rights? Should they? Should there be a limit to what people do for them? If so, what is it? If not, where do you draw a line?

My whole life I have owned dogs. Not only have I owned dogs but I've owned a hamster, fish, and a turtle also. For 16 years of my life, our family has owned Pit bull's and nothing but Pit bull's. The first was Brutus. He was all black with a white stripe down his chest. His death is unknown. He was around when I was only 1-5 years old. Next we got Cookie when I was 5-13 She was the most ignorant, craziest dog that anybody could have (I believe). She would dig the tiniest holes underneath something and squeeze through the tightest cracks possible. She wouldn't appear for hours at times. Then, all of the sudden, she'd come out with a mouthful of rats or a beaver. She was an insane dog. She died from hanging herself trying to escape her pen. But that's why we love Pit bull's so much, we're an insane family. Anyways, Cookie got pregnant years before she died and had a litter of 8. We kept two out of eight. Their names were Kane and Spanky. Spanky died earlier so i'll talk about him first. He had a brown patch over his right eye and he was very loud. I vaguely remember him because I was about 12 when he died. I remember finding him in his pen with only his carcass on the ground. I was in disbelief. He was a great dog. Next, Kane was brindle and the tallest Pit bull we've had. He was lazy and somewhat clumsy. We don't like lazy dogs. But anyways, he was a calm dog and he basically chilled whenever we were around. He died November 24, 2008 from worms. Now, it's pretty confusing but when he was still alive, he mated with his mother (GROSS, I KNOW!) when she was in heat. She had another litter of 6 but we kept only one. His name was Baz. I named him that because it seemed like a mellow, 90's type name. I found it interesting and different. He lived the shortest of them all, only about a year old. He fell sick and I remember we let him roam around the yard for about a week by himself because we knew he wasn't going to make it. He later died. We currently have a dog named Beau. (Pronounced Bo after Bo Jackson). He is a full blue-bred Pit. He's colored light brindle with green/blue eyes. We purchased him from a shelter in Pleasantville. He is energetic and misbehaving. He bites everything and he doesn't stop moving. We bought him about three months ago at about seven months old. He's obviously ten months old now now. I believe that we can communicate with digs but we weren't meant to realize it. I think that if we knew we could communicate with dogs, then "The Man" would try horrible experiments with them and we'd be hurting them. The world is crazy and people will do anything to be rich so that's why I believe that "The Man" would try something sick and insane. I believe that only dogs can communicate with me because they are "Mans Best friend." We just automatically attach. NOT WITH CATS!!! I HATE CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBut, I believe that activists have too much time to take care of them. I'd be an activist...if I had the time. However, I believe that they are doing the right thing and I encourage them to keep doing their job whether it's volunteer or career. They are not wasting their time. If they want to help another living thing, no matter what it is, they should do so. Animals have rights. They can run away if they want to, (at least in my family they can), they can eat when they want, drink when they want, and sleep when they want. They don't even have to go to school! That must be nice. There shouldn't be any limit on what people do for animals. If people want to treat them like king's and queen's, they can do so, if they treat them like dirt, the animal should turn on its owner and kill them. I don't draw any line. Animals are just like us. They have feelings, and a part of their brain that makes decisions. If you make them mad, they'll remember it and next time, they'll try to harm you. If you treat them well, they'll respect you and defend you. Especially Pit bull's. They're very territorial which means if somebody is on their property, they attack. If they get loose and trespass on someone else's property, they do not attack, they try to escape if anything.
ReplyDeleteI do have two pets a cat and a dog. My cat doesn’t really have a name I just call her baby kitty or meow meow because cats don’t listen to there name anyway. My sisters dogs name is Charlie. I ended up calling my cat this because we went months with out having a name and that what I would call her so it just stuck. Charlie went through a serious of names skitter, governor, and Otis than finally we decided Charlie matched him best and that’s what we kept. I no that me and my cat have a bond but I’m not sure if I communicate with her on a level she understands. When I whistle she comes to me and we lay together. The dog I’m not really close with because its my sisters dog and he’s usually in her room. My cat always communicates with me. When she hungry or wants something she meows and when she really wants something the meow is really long and drawn out like she whining. I think activists who campaign for animals are taking action for what they believe in. I think this is great, would I go do this for hours, no I would not. I don’t think they are wasting there time. Animals do have feelings and are living mammals and to an extent animals have rights, but I don’t think they should have the same rights as humans. Yes, I do think they should have rights considering they are living too. As far as the limits on what people should do for them its completely up to the person. As long as the person isn’t abusing them or causing harm to them in anyway than I don’t think it matters if they want to feed them five star gourmet food than so be it. Animals even though they can not talk and do not function the same as humans are still extremely smart. Animals senses when the weather is going to change and can even sense when something is wrong with their owner. This is more extraordinary than what humans can do. It disgusts me how some people treat animals. If you are going to take the responsibility of getting an animal than you need to devote your time to take care and love the animal or else you should even get one. I spend every chance I can get with my cat and that’s why I think she loves me so much and chooses me over anyone in my house
ReplyDeleteI love animals, the reason why I feel this way is because I believe that animals should be treated like human. Animals don’t have a voice to speak for themselves, and I’m pretty sure if they did they would prefer not to be tortured and killed to be eaten! They way that some people treat their animals is just not right. Animals are just like baby’s they have feeling’s they need attention, I’m just saying if you’re going to have an animal be prepared to spend a lot of time with your pet you have to show it love. I did have 2 pugs but they died from some type of illness I’m not sure of what it was but I do know that it tore me to pieces. Ever since that day I can’t look at a dog without crying. I do believe that animals do understand us humans because if you train a dog they begin to understand what stop, sit, and their names etc. but I do not think that we can understand them, besides when they cry we can understand that something is wrong. I think that activist do not waste their time animals should have their rights just as well as humans do.
ReplyDeleteYes , I've had a few pets in my life , but the one that I remember the most was the prettiest dog ever and his name was Homie. We chose that name for him because it was different , and at the time , people called their close friends "homies".
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't get along with any kind if pets , because I simply don't like them. Pets were never a necessity in my household ; just something extra to past the time.
I don't think animals can communicate with humans because can't talk. It's not like they can make certain facial expressions or hand gestures when something is wrong , so I don't think you can.
I really don't understand how or why people devote so much time , money , energy , or research on animals because they don't really make a difference in today's society. Because to me , they don't make a difference in the world.
Yes , there are MANY other issues that are going on and people continue to waste time on helpless defenseless creatures.
Animals do not have rights. No where in The Constitution does it state that animals have rights and in the Bible it does state that humans are supposed to be superior and have dominion over all animals. So no they should not be
Treated with the same rights as humans. In the Bible it states human beings are supposed to have dominion and be superior to animals.
ReplyDeleteEven though I don't believe in animal rights I do think there is a line that shouldn't be crossed as far as cruelty or killings.
I have 2 dogs and I've always grown up with a dog or two around the house! I Have a shitzu/maltese mix named precious and its a girl and also i have a palmeranian named domino and its a boy. I didn't choose either of my dogs names. My mom chose the girl dogs name and my dad was given his dog by someone who couldn't take care of it and had already named him so we decided to keep his name. I do believe that we can communicate with our animals. To a certain degree animals are like children and when babies are first born they can't speak or understand us but we teach them and they learn. We teach our animals certain tricks and when we say certain words they respond. The only way you can communicate with your animal is if you really want to. I also believe that animals can comunicate with us. When they have to use the bathroom for example they come crying or go scratch and sit by the door. Just like we teach animals what we want them to do and how we want them to act they also can teach us how they want us to react with their action. As for the activists campaigning and standing outside in the cold weather trying to gain the rights for anial; i think it's a little much. There are soe children in the world that get treated worse than some animals. They should be spending their time campaigning for them to gain their rights so they won't have to be abused and mistreated. I also think that animals have rights. They were placed on this earth just like us and they have the right to live just like us. I do thinkk that there should be a limit to how much people do for them. Some people treat animals as their children and if they want to do and give the world to their pet than that's their choice. Not even just pets though. If people want to go all out for any other animal they should be able to. It's not harming the earth, if anything it's helping the earth. I also don't think there should be a line drawn. We are promised all these rights in our constitution, so i believe we should be able to extend some of those rights to animals.
ReplyDeleteI only have one dog. She is a Yorkshire Terrier named Sophie. We didn't name her, when we get her from a breeder she was already named so we decided to keep it as to not confuse her. I do believe I can communicate with Sophie because when I tell her to do something like come, stop barking or stay she does what I say. Sophie talking to me though is like trying to tell what a baby wants, you know they want something but you just kind of guest what it is. I think someone has to stand for animals since they can't directly talk for themselves. All animals have rights, no animal should be hurt out in the middle of a park for no reason. However, if it is for human needs then we are on top of the food chain. This may be for food or scientific research.
ReplyDeleteI have two dogs, Barkley (10 years old) and Emmitt (15 years old). They’re pugs my family got from the rescue 8 years ago in July. They already had names, so I didn’t really have a say in what to name them. I believe that I can communicate with Barkley in the sense that he understands some words that I say, but I don’t think I can really communicate with Emmitt because he’s deaf, but he can tell what I’m trying to say just by looking at my expressions and gestures. As for animals in general, I feel that communication can take place, but not in the form of words. The main way of communicating with animals is through gestures, like waving your arms or crouching down toward them. Animals try to communicate with us, but it’s difficult to figure out what they’re trying to say, much like a crying baby; they make noises when they want something, but you don’t know exactly what they want. Animal rights activists aren’t really ‘wasting’ their time being they’re spending it fighting for what they believe in. If they want to help animals, then let them help. As for me, I think animals should have rights, but not the same rights as humans. They do have rights already, but I think that the rights they have are good enough, if not more than enough. For example, the APA Ethical Guidelines for Research have acknowledged the standards for animal research, stating that harmful procedures inflicted upon animals must be thoroughly justified in terms of knowledge to be gained from the study. I don’t know why animals need more rights, but there are people who think that animals should be treated as equals. I love animals, but they’re just animals. They’re not people, they can’t effectively converse with humans, and they don’t contribute much to society. In fact, they usually demean our society. I think it’s nice that people want to help animals, but we should put that effort into helping people first. Animals are taken from the streets and given food, drink, and housing. Many of these animals are also given families. There are many homeless people that would like to be treated to that luxury, but apparently dogs and cats are more important. Animals are animals, and they have their own places on the food chain. We are above them, we understand the universe, we have technology, we have language, etc. I respect animals, but they’re still only animals.

ReplyDeleteI used to have two dogs, two adorable dogs, Sphinx and Nino. Sphinx was a pit-bull mixed with boxer which made him a mutt. As a puppy he was going to be put down because the owner didn’t think he was going to be valuable. My brother took him home and he was scared at first and sat in a Sphinx style and stared at us. That’s how he got his name. Our second dog was a beauty; Nino was a beautiful black coated German shepherd. Now Nino was my favorite, he was so special to me, and I believe I was his favorite. Every time I was upset he would come over and dance with me. Yes, dance and try to stand on his hind legs. How would he know? Well, he had a soul of course! Without a doubt he had one, with feelings and thoughts, maybe limited thoughts but they were still there and they knew my emotions some how! One day Nino ran out the house, out and far. I didn't know what to do, so when I searched I fell on the blacktop and screamed out in pain as my knee was completely skinned. Out of no where Nino appeared, alarmed, with ears shot up, and sitting by my side, guarding me. Things like that convince me even more that animals have feelings and thoughts. Therefore their soul is valuable to me and should be to anyone. They are a part of this world and it's system to function. I think the most amazing thing about animals is that they have a sixth sense, like mothers do. That sense to me is their communication of knowing feelings. I'm not sure if this is making sense yet, but it's almost like they can read Auras? Especially dogs, because their loyalty is not even questionable in my eyes and it's because they can read humans.
ReplyDeleteNow as for the activists, I believe what they do is GREAT. It's even admirable, what gets to me is that that isn't done for humans. Therefore yes, and no. They aren't wasting their time, every cause should be presented fairly and equally, but I believe that there are causes far more important then others. Humans should be put above animals when it comes to the situation a dog and a normal human are hanging off a cliff... who would you save? On the other hand that doesn't mean animals shouldn't be ignored or in any way abused. Animals have rights, and I strongly believe in my religion which says that there will be punishment for animal abuse. There shouldn't be a limit on what people can do for them if the people are doing it out of their own will and money that has no effects on other humans then no one should be stopped in doing anything for animals. I might have a weak spot for dogs, horses, and animals I prefer but all my thoughts apply to all animals. I just also believe in survival and though an animal might understand a human, it doesn't mean it won't harm a human.
There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the Book, and they (all) shall be gathered to their Lord in the end.
—Qur'an 6:38
I have three dogs that live in my house. Two of the dogs are boys and the one is a girl. Their names are Coco, Max, and Cosmo. Coco is the one that’s the girl and Max and Cosmo are the boys. Coco and Max are pugs and Cosmo is a Shih Tzu. I did not choose the name Coco was chosen by my aunt. Max was chosen by his old owner he did not come into the family till I moved out here. Cosmo was chosen by me he is my favorite dog I pick it because my grandma gave me the suggestion and I just went with it a pick the name Cosmo. This summer coco had puppy by Cosmo. Coco had seven but two of them died. Total she had five puppies. They were mixed dogs because Cosmo is a Shih Tzu and Coco is a pug. My mom sold all of the puppies. It was sad but I was happy with three it was to many dogs in my house. I communicate with Cosmo the most because he listens to me when I tell him to sit down or go to eat or just play with him. He knows when I want to play and when I don’t. I would not go camping and spend hours for the rights of animals because I like animals but I only like my dogs. It not like I do like other peoples pets it just not that serious to me. But the one thing I don’t like is when people hurt or kill animals. I think that animals haves somewhat of a right because animals should not be abused. On TV I see a lot of commercial about people a banning pets where they can’t eat, drink, or sleep somewhere nice. That’s why I think animals should get there rights if you are going to take care of pets and you want to it is a responsibility. I wish we could stop people from getting pets that area banning them but it sucks that it might not happen. So to conclude to what I am saying is that it is a responsility and a care you have to put toward your pet and also treat them with respect.
ReplyDeleteYes, I currently have 2 pets although I would love to have a few dogs, horses, and a snake or two. I started out with 2 cats and 1 dog, a girl tabby named Kitty-very creative, I know- and a calico that we never named because it was mean. Kitty had died from cancer, and the other one from old age. My dog was a Dalmatian named Jake, I have no idea why we named him that to be honest, and I was only 1 when we got him, but he was the best dog I could ever hope for. He was always protective of me, like I was his child and he knew when I was sad, and always got excited when I came home. Eventually he got old, and had a messed up back from playing in the waves at the beach; he could barely move around the yard and go up the porch steps. So then the spring before we moved here my father had to put him down. It was the saddest thing for the both of us. Now I only have a hamster and a cat, don’t worry, they play nice. I found my cat on a farm in West Virginia one summer and he was the cutest little ball of fluff and my mother and I just couldn’t say no. He’s a Maine Coon cat, very fat now, with little white paws and everything else is a mixture of brown, tan and black; we named him Boots because of the white paws. My hamster is Vlad the Impaler, like Dracula. It probably sounds ridiculous since he’s so little and fluffy and not intimidating, but it fit since hamsters are nocturnal, and he likes to bite…a lot.
ReplyDeleteI believe that animals have feelings, emotions, and more intellect than most other people expect. Animals have a way of expressing their emotions, just not in the way that humans can. It’s hard to see how people don’t see that they have emotion, the way cats and dogs are so playful, or if in the unfortunate event in which they were mistreated they are shy, skittish, or even mean. Animals have their own personalities as well. They are capable of being trained, which I think takes a bit more intelligence than I think most people could understand-considering most people can’t follow rules or direction at all. Animals deserve a lot more credit than they’ve been given. I think you can communicate with animals, mostly through body language, and sometimes sounds. Animals always have warning signs, like baring their teeth, folding back their ears, hair on end. They show you they’re happy by wagging tails, being playful and sometimes you can just look into their eyes and see their contentness and satisfaction. I don’t think that activists are wasting their time. I think animals deserve rights and respect. The way a lot of people treat animals is disgusting to me. It’s not like people aren’t fighting for humans either, but humans for the most part can speak for themselves, and animals can’t do that, so somebody has to speak for them. Unfortunately animals don’t have any rights, and it’s a shame. I don’t think people should be able to hunt, mistreat, test on, abuse, or even eat animals.

ReplyDeleteI do have a pet, a dog. To be technical, it’s not really my dog it’s my brothers but, it’s under the same household. He name is Sparky. The name wasn’t something we initially desired, just something we thought of from the top of our head. Originally we had two dogs, the other named Bear but, he seemed to cause too many problems that my mother gave him up. Sparky is a Jack Russell, one of the most hyperest dogs in the world.
ReplyDeleteI don’t believe we as humans could communicate with any animal in general in the sense that they understand or interpret our words the same as we do. However, I do believe that we are able to communicate with them. The only way is from birth. I say birth because just like humans, when a baby is born, they are not born with an automated logic, over time, years, we learn more and more about life and education. I believe the same goes for animals, a little differently though. For example, to teach a dog to play fetch, roll over, stay, sit, etc… takes time. It may ever take years. At first they may not understand but, with showing them and constantly repeating the same methods, over time a dog or any animal for that instance will learn a simple command such as “sit”. It all starts from birth.
Animals should have rights as humans. An animal doesn’t hold society but, they are a living thing with a heart and soul. They should be abused and killed at someone’s own free will. So in reference to all animal activists, they are not wasting their time. They are standing up and fighting for something they believe in, as well as helping animals stay alive and live on freely or with care. I believe animals should have the right to live, as for freedom of speech well maybe that would be a little far fetch. As a living creature, with a heart in soul it should be given a chance.
I myself am an animal lover but more particularly towards the canine species. I love dogs & have always wanted a beagle or wiener dog but instead have had a Dalmatian named Dj, a chihuahua named Princess (my grandma's dog), & a cocker spaniel-border collie mix named Pepper. The reason her name was pepper was because she was black & her paws, ear tips & a patch under her neck were white. & it just seemed like a nice name. In my opinion I believe that there is a level of communication that can be established with a pet. Some animals are very intelligent & can respond to signals or certain words is properly trained & some even without training. Animals also have a way of communicating back. When my dog Pepper wants to be let outside she whimpers I little, spins around once & then sits down & looks at me with her head sideways. That's her way of communicating to me that she wants to be let out. I think animal activist like PETA & stuff have a good cause but they tend to go too far & I think they can be a little to serious about the situation. Saying that animals have rights is not logical because the rights that they would be given are those that apply to humans. I'm pretty sure that groups of animals don't go capture a humans & then allow them the same rules as their species group/clan. Even if animals were given the same rights as humans then having then as pets would be violating their right of freedom & humans would be charged with "animal-knapping" & involuntary imprisonment. Thats just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI have always owned some form of animal my entire life. I currently own two dogs, four ducks, and a cat. These animals have never given me any reason to think that they are just simple minded emotionless creatures. Time and time again i have seen my dogs feel happiness, regret, sadness, joy, and even depression. A prime example of this is my two dogs Cocoa and Luke,(both labs), these two dogs have grown up with eachother and Luke has never seen a day with out his sister and friend. However occasionally we must seperate them for vet visits or to take them for walks when only one person can go, now when this happens in both dogs there is a visable change in behavior and mood. Both dogs become depressed and do nothing but mope around the yard with out there brother/sister, this is unusual because both are high energy fun loving animals so for someone to see a change in their attitude one cant argue that animals have no emotion. Now true as it may be that this is just one example but this isnt the only case of behavior like this, i have seen this sort of emotional change with loss or gains in almost any dog i have seen. Now the question is " well yeah dogs might have feelings but they arent the only animals in the world" this is true so I will provide more examples. Cats are also fairly intelligent creatures I have witnessed these animals display acts of great inteligence and reason, including amazing acrobatics and problem solving. I have also seen acts of emotion, in one case in particular a cat that had thought everyone in its home had left so it went to the glass window and cried out for its owners out of lonliness, is this not a prime example of emotion displayed by a human? now i could go on to discuss these acts of emotion and inteligence, however i feel there is no need to we have all seen these acts. it is extremly evedent that animals do posses feeling, are in fact intelligent, and do feel pain the same as any human. Therefor animals deserve basic rights that might be given to any human, none of political standing but of basic rights that all living beings should posses.
ReplyDeleteI have had several pets over the years, many of which we gave away to our family and our friends. But we have always had the same dog. Her name is Sacha and we named her after the comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. We also got her name from my mom because when she said the name "Sasha" it gave a "ch" sound instead of a "sh" sound.
ReplyDeleteSacha is like a small German Shepherd. She has the shape of one but she`s the size of a Chihuahua! She is a good dog and is loyal to my family also. Whenever we call her name or walk in the door she always has her tail wagging and some sort of grin on her face. Personally i think that only my mother can communicate with my dog because my dog is always around my mom. Also every time my dog hears my mother she runs up to her first.
I don't believe that I can communicate with animals in a verbal manner but with gestures and mannerisms. But in my view i believe that if we do not try to communicate with animals we will lose our humanity. Being more like robots if anything. Without animals mankind would not be what it is today.
I do believe that all animals deserve some rights if any. They should be given some sort of happiness if any at all. If there is a cow that's going to be slaughtered, give it some time in the pasture so it can at the least enjoy the last hours of life. Animals in my view have some emotion in them. If its a ferociousness or if its timidity, all animals exhibit emotions. They all have rights and the activists that lobby for animal rights are true in their cause. I also strongly believe many animals deserve the same right to happiness as humans do. If a criminal that's on death row have enough respect by their fellow man to give them a last meal, why can't an animal have that same respect? I think that if you're going to kill a living thing at least give it the respect it needs. Don't kill it and step all over its body.So in that respect activists are right in lobbying for animal rights.Although some might say we cant let animals have rights I disagree entirely with that.
Take any house pet a dog, cat, or bird and you can teach them all individual tricks. In order to learn and understand tricks an animal would need a brain big enough to understand all the tricks. With understanding comes emotion and feeling. I have no doubt in my mind that animals have intellect as well. Looking at some of the animals that populate this earth I think it’s relatively easy to see they have intellect (in some cases probably more than some of the freshman). Take any kind of primate for example; this is the closest thing you can get to being human without being human. They have families, emotions, feelings, and are some of the smartest animals on the planet.
ReplyDeleteI guess it’s easy for me to see animals as almost another person because I have a pet. I have a main coon cat that I’ve had ever since I was young. Than before my cat I had a dog and a couple of ferrets. My cat’s name is Sammy. My brother chose his name and I’m not to sure what he was thinking when he named him. However, the name seemed to fit him just fine. It was easy to remember and it grew on us quickly just like the cat did. Naming a pet can’t be much different than naming a person. No one wants to name their child something stupid; likewise no one wants a pet with a stupid name. So in order to get the best name for a pet I think you need to see him/her and be with them before you can chose. Names should be based off of an animal’s personality or looks and not just picked out of the blue.
I think animals always try to communicate with us, are they always successful defiantly not. Our pets try to talk with us I think some of them try real hard, some try TO hard, but we can only get the basics done like food, bathroom, water. Until technology comes out to help us with this language barrier I think that’s about as far as we can get with our house pets. Just as our pets try to talk to us, we try to talk to our pets and some of us look just plane silly doing it. For some people our idea of talking is saying words very slowly, calling them baby names, and pointing at things. This isn’t the most successful way to do it, but for most cases it gets the job done.
Animals should have rights it is only fair. These are living breathing creatures and it’s not right for us to treat them like they have nothing. They shouldn’t have every right humans have, otherwise that would get bizarre. However, they should have the key basics. They should have the right to a home, a caring family, and a family that won’t abuse them. No animal deserves anything but this. Animals have never done anything to us so we shouldn’t be abusing them like a lot of people do. I can understand were animal activists are coming from, but some of them are asking for ridiculous things. They ask us not to eat meat or kill animals for food. Now I’m all for animal rights but I am also all for my survival. In order to keep living we need certain foods in our diet and meat is just one of them. Take meat out of the diet and it isn’t very healthy for you anymore.
I have always had pets in my 18 years of life. My first dog was named woody. He died in 2004. He was a chocholate lab and the best dog ever. We then got another chocholate lab and named him Rusty. We named him after the Race car driver Rusty Wallace. i also have 2 cats one is named Marbles and the other ones name is Black Jack. We also have a blood hound dog. Her name is Lilly and she works for the State with my Dad on the search and rescue team. I believe that animals can communicate with people they just have to be trained. My dog Rusty barks when you say the word Speak. when he was little i use to keep saying the work speak and as soon as he barked i would give him a treat. now all you have to do is ay speak and he barks. So I believe animals are trainable. Potty training is also learned but doing the same thing with the animal over and over again. my dogs however our outside dogs. I believe animals should have rights but it is up to owners to protect and love them. the should have a loving home. I do however believe we should kill animals for food. i don't believe in killing them for no reason or for fun like Michael Vick did.
ReplyDeleteI had so many dogs in my lifetime. My favorite dog is the Pit-bull. I had about over 7 Pit bulls. A Pit-bull is one of the most vicious dogs of them all. I couldn't see myself owning any other dog. Currently I have a rare hard to find all white Pit-bull with Blue eyes. His name is Casper. He is so strong. His jaw is enormous. He is only 4 months old. My dog already listens to four commands. I tell it to either, Stay, Stop, Sit, or Get'em! Several of my dogs in the past attacked other people and dogs. Nothing too severe. The dog I have now will not turn out the same way. He will be a Guard dog only. I already share a special bond with my dog. It only listens to me so far. It follows me everywhere. To tell the one hundred Percent truth, I hate all other pets. If it’s not about a pit-bull then it’s not about me. I like animals in general. My favorite one is the Tiger. To me, that’s the real king of the jungle. Not some stupid old lion. If given the opportunity I would fight for animal rights, but only some animals. Ill fight for the rights of tigers, bears, and Of course Pit bulls. Nothing against the other animals, but its just that they don’t grab my attention. I feel that people who give their all in protecting animals are doing a good thing. I kind of feel it’s a waste of time. You can’t stop the whole world from eating chicken. You got a better chance of surviving a plane crash. In conclusion I am a big animal fan; it just depends on which animal.
