The nature of debate is not to argue, but rather to broaden perspective. Human beings as a species can be incredibly short-sighted. Let's change that, shall we?

Success
What is your definition of success?
How will you know if you have achieved it? How did your definition of it come to be what it is?
Has it changed over the years?
I define success as an achieved goal. It can be any goal, so if you want to pass this class and end up doing so it's considered a success in my book (as long as that's what you were aiming for). Another example would be this post; I wanted to get the first post on at least one of these blogger questions. This is a success right here. You'll know if you achieved it when you achieve a goal, simple as that. My definition came to be this just because that's what I always thought it was. I suppose for most people the definition has changed, but for me it's always been this way. There's no need to complicate things; it is what it is.
My defintion of success is similar to nicks. Its to make a goal and do it and do even better than what i wanted. Trufully for me to know i achived want i had to kno somebody would have to tell me. Cause I make goals all the time but i don't try to go through with alot them like trying to my English words there so big for me its just hard for me to understaind so I quit on them. My deftion of success came to be what it is through my grandfather. Growing up he told me that what success was. He told me you could have all the money in the world but it doesn't make you success. No my deftion has never changed and I hope it dosen't change.
Success comes in many forms and definitions, but I'd be here all night...and I have to wrestle tonight...but my definition of success would be, "Success- Positivity, in any matter; Leadership and outstanding excellence; Above and beyond with no turning back and no regret. My definition never really came to my mind until now. I always knew that success was the word that every smart individual is striving for and I need to be THAT much better than the average person to beat them and succeed to success. I believe that success is everything an individual needs to have a positive mindset and outlook on life. I approach success modest, self-effacing, and accepting. In this "New World", success is the ONLY thing an individual needs. People won't be able to get anywhere in life without succeeding. So whoever is reading this right now, yes and that means YOU, keep in mind that success will only get you $$$$$. Honestly, that's what I'm striving to get.
SUCCE$$ is not my kind of success, that's just a small part of it. When I think of success is when I feel accomplished, the feeling that I came, and I have conquered the situation put before me. Now even asking my parents, family, and people around me, they would let you know that I like simple things, and a simple life style for most of my life. I was always talking about how happiness is key and all that rainbow, butterfly, and bunny in the meadow crap. It was such a "utopian" point of view, it was my view about a year ago, sadly. From then to now I learned that success is a little more then personal satisfaction. That success is also comfort, and with comfort comes the ease to fit into our society. Our society is based on capitalism, and here goes nothing... I'm going to say it... success does involve money. Without money, yes life goes on, but life isn't easy, nor is it satisfying. I still whole-heartedly believe that success does start with inner soul and spiritual satisfaction. My definition changed, and after having money problems that's when I truly realized that in this society money does matter. Success should be stress free, and when you're worried about the bills and your family, like how I see my dad, then money will go hand in hand with success. It's like when celebrities or music artists talk about how unimportant money is, but what would they know. It was like that for me, when I had it, I thought hey it's not that important. When I need it, it is important, it's a big part of life. I feel like coming to this new conclusion, it's like I grew up, and that life is also growing grim. For me though, as an individual if I were to live alone, I wouldn't want so much money, or anything like a rich life style. I just want to go to sleep at night, smiling, happy with the progress I make.
Success can happen in a lot of ways depending on what you are doing. When you set a goal for yourself and you complete that goal that is success. Even when you don’t set a goal and you just do something good you are successful. Like in track I’m successful when I win a race and when I beat my personal best records. In football you are successful when you make a tackle or you score a touchdown. This is success in athletics when you win and your beyond happy you have successfully beaten your opponent to get a victory. In school you set goals to get good grades and when you get these grades you are successful in your academics. Even though a lot of kids don’t plan to do good they just copy others work and get good grades but hey do what you got to do right.
Success in my opinion isn’t something that is achieved very easily. In order to be truly successful one must work hard at whatever they are doing. However, success can be a hard thing to determine in some cases, so my definition of success is this: success- when something is completed fully or done to the best of ones abilities. For example, after lacrosse practice my coach says we are now a little bit better lacrosse players because we worked hard. To me that is a successful practice because we did our best and improved on something. I got this definition of success from playing sports all my life. I quickly learned that you don’t have to be the best at something or do it completely right for it to be a true success. The only thing required is that you as a person are now that much better. As I have gotten older and I have experienced more of what life has to offer I stick with my definition now more than ever because in some situations it’s not always going to be clear what needs to be done or how to do it right. So if you live life by always doing your best than it is a success.
We most commonly hear of success as exceling in school to one day become someone of a higher caliber: whether it’s a doctor, police officer etc.. What we don’t seem to realize is that although not everyone has chosen the path to being someone professional, we have all been successful at something at some point in our lives. Success in my eyes is the achievement of a personal objective. This could span out to an infinitive list of things to succeed in. For instance, in sports, most if not all, athletes have a personal goal. This goal could be to make it in the state championships in football or to improve one’s time in any given race in track. As we work hard to achieve these goals we don’t seem to think of it but, we are also working to succeed in the accomplishment of the goal. At the end of the season when we are state champions we see it as a successful season. It is not just in sports or academics though; being successful in something could be something as little as losing five pounds in two weeks or setting a goal to not argue with anyone for a given amount of time and accomplishing that goal. You know you’ve reached success when you’ve achieved whatever you set your goal on to be. I came to this definition because on average, we see success as graduating high school, going to college to, and as I said before, become someone professional. But, although not everyone has some fancy title for an occupation, for the most part everyone as something they are good at and succeed in exceling in it. My definition for this has changed. I mean, I was once that ‘average person’ that believed being successful was have a fancy job title but, as I got older and more open minded I started to realize that although we may not all live in fancy houses, have the most fanciest cars, we all have something within us that has potential to be something more; something that we can succeed in.
Sucess is as relative as goals are. The fact is your deffinition of sucess means that you are happy with the result that was achieved at the task that you had set in front of you. Therefor me saying that getting a b in schoolwould be a sucess while some of my ap counterparts would say that that isnt acceptable in anyway. My goals for sucess long term are simple, well Standard is most likely a better term. All i want out of life is a decent sized (for lack of a better word sexy) house, my shelby gt mustang as well as an audi r8 (dont know what they are look them up please). I also would like a nice, attractive, and most importantly funny wife along with 3 reasonably behaved children. These things all coupled with a nice job and a well put together stock portfolio and in my eyes i will have achieved success. This deffinition over the years hasnt really changed, though my tatse in cars has, but aside from that my deffinitioon of sucess has been the same. Some people might disagree with me saying they want to be famous and be billionares and unless they have these things they wont be successfull and i suppose that is how success and to a greater extent relativity works.
To me success is completing ones goal. With this definition success has many forms. For example, my family is redecorating my house so it looks better. There will be success when it looks the best we can make it. There are little successes like finishing your homework on time, to bigger ones like getting into your dream college. I never thought of of the definition of success before this, so my definition was made up right here and comes from me.
Success in my opinion is achieving a long term or short term goal. When I achieve a goal its a feeling of self satifaction that I get. I feel as if I'm on top of the world. Success isn't necessarily getting Money or having a nice house, but it is a part of it. After you have success those are the benefits of it. My definiton came to be what it is after watching role models in my family become successful. It changed over the years by me maturing and realizing what real success is and what is really important in life.
My definition of success is being able obtain anything you want. Our country is run off of money. Whoever has the most money can obtain whatever they want. That is what success means to me. I will know I achieved it when I am older established in life with a career, a beautiful home, and me being able to let’s say loosely throw money around. That’s not saying it will be a mansion either. Just something that is suitable for me if I’m single or living with someone, Big enough to accommodate either comfortably. My definition came to be this because I know that’s what I want when I’m older and if I can obtain that then in my eye I would be successful. The only way it has changed over years is that it keeps becoming more elaborate. Before it was I want to be a doctor if I achieve that than I will be successful. Now it is a house this that and the other the list goes on forever.
Success to me means that you have everything that can make you live. To me it means also that you can afford the things you want if you want it. Success isn't something that can be bought by anyone though, it has to be achieved by hard work and determination. This meaning was made in my head when I was very young and impressionable. I thought that being successful was being rich until I heard the story of my grandfather and how he made a name of himself. After i heard of his story, I finally got an idea of what success is and how you earn it. Its a definition that in my opinion defines success very clearly to me. I don't think I've achieved this definition yet but I am well on my way. I dont think my meaning of success has changed at all. That is what in my opinion defines success.
Success is different for everyone, for some it's doing what makes you happy rather than what makes you rich, and for others it's what makes you the most money and happiness doesn't matter. But to me success is happiness, financial comfort, and stability. It's doing things you've wanted to do since you were little, and to experience the world. My initial thought of success had nothing to do with finances, today I feel success has a lot to do with money. I think I'll know when I'm successful when I'm happy and everything feels right, and I feel like I've done everything I wanted to.
My personal definition of success is doing what you want to do and achieving happiness. I believe that as long as you are satisfied and happy with what you have accomplished, you succeed. Regardless of what anyone else thinks, it’s just as long as you did your best. It’s not hard to realize this success, if you really reflect about everything in your life. Sometimes it can be difficult, as things that do provide happiness can be overshadowed by small things that can bring you down for a while. But you have to see beyond that, and look into the deep parts of your mind and go deep to see the big picture. I came up with this definition because it’s what I truly believe. I might always have my ups and downs, but if I am really, truly happy I’ll know it, and I will consider myself successful. It’s changed from when I was a little kid, but for my teenage years it has remained the same. Happiness, to me, is everything. And you can’t be 100% successful.
I define success as an achieved goal. It can be any goal, so if you want to pass this class and end up doing so it's considered a success in my book (as long as that's what you were aiming for).
